Netflix

Documentary watched
A kabbutz commune...

Love to labor
Muscle and vigor!

Natural living
All in tune...

Blinders in place
Blocks the sight,

Of future collapse
Due to worldly delights!

Sun-shining February day

Blue willow cup stained
With memory of teas past

Alight writing hand
Paper now to sass!

Winter-blues gone
At least in this hour

Counting on a full cup
And only to flower.

Painting bug with bad photography

So painted these up yesterday. Many days later they will turn into what they are supposed to be!!! In the mean time I get to help them evolve.

The city cut down two towering trees today

Sad day this day. City workers informed us that there were two trees in the front "right of way" that were going to have to be cut down.

We are not happy about their decision. The explanation was that the giant walnut was in the way of them putting in a new sidewalk. And the once glowing maple was rotting and couldn't be saved. Ok, I do understand the reasoning. However it didn't stop the tears or anger.
There has to be a painting. And here is the rough draft.

Painting Process...

This has been the painting process of my last painting.
experimenting with washes and placements

word placement on book cover

still figuring out colors and placements

more details

Cheers!

more details added and color changes

almost done....this one is pretty true to color.

finished product!  yay!!!!

The colors from the photos are not true but do give a very specific idea of what the painting looks like.  I'm pretty pleased with it.
Now lets see if someone likes it well enough to want it on their wall.

Some fermentation going on...this is the second day in the process.  Cabbage, dill and garlic from the garden.  I added beets, Brusselsprouts and horseradish too...so in a few weeks (hopefully) we will have sauerkraut!!!

This is the penny rug top all finished.  Now to figure out a backing so it will lay flat with body...

In the mail yesterday was the loom manual from a very helpful lady who is part of a weaving group.  This winter will be a perfect time to learn how to weave!!! First you have to learn how to warp the loom. But one step at a time....before springtime I hope to be weaving on this beauty!

Hope-full

Good morning, today promises to be a wonderful one. I have quite a few tasks on my list!

Yesterday I made a beef bone stock for the freezer with lots of homegrown garlic. It made up 8 quarts worth.

Fall is in the air this cool morning and with it the hope of sweaters, soups and snuggling.

A poem a day and a painting per week. That is my "minimum" production.

What a perfect day here in Iowa!! The weather is cool (60's). Sun is streaming in the windows and this lady is getting ready to walk Mattie.

Yesterday was cool enough to do some canning.
