The midwest has been very hot this summer. Our tomatoes are ripening here too. We have mostly cherry and grape. The grape was a mistake. They are some company's idea because they are industrial small tomatoes. They pack well and hold up to shipping, but they are tough skinned and aren't that great. The cherry type are much better and much preferred by the chickens too. We don't do any canning, yet.
HI Brad...didn't know chickens liked tomatoes! your right about the grape tomatoes, I plant the big boys or beefsteaks..plus some early girls which are smaller.
